Smart Commute works with businesses and organizations across the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area region to help their employees commute to work in sustainable ways. Together, we can reduce congestion, improve air quality, reduce climate change emissions, and improve our daily commutes.

Bike Month – June 2026

Ready, set, bike! Participate in Bike Month this June! Bike Month kicks off with Bike Day on June 4. Bike Month is a celebration of cycling to encourage everyone to get cycling, learn new riding skills or joining fun events to connect with new people! Ride your bike for your commute to work, a lunch break, running errands in your neighbourhood, or a ride with friends and family or others!

What is the Bike Month Challenge? Smart Commute encourages you to log your sustainable commuting trips on our Smart Commute app (SmartCommute.ca) between Monday, June 1, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. EST and Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Whether you cycle to school or work, to run errands, or for recreation, each cycling trip you log is an entry to a random prize draw for a $100 gift card! Participants receive one entry per sustainable trip logged with a maximum of two entries per day during the Contest Period. Start logging those trips and make your commute count today!

Get Ready to Cycle: Gear, Technique, andSafety

  • Description: This webinar will provide an overview of bicycles and how to ride them safely. You will learn about the benefits of cycling, bicycle parts, safety checks, common rules of the road, cycling gear, and etiquette and techniques. This webinar is perfect for anyone who is unfamiliar with cycling or would like a proper refresher on how to cycle safely this season.

The Present and Future of Cycling in Toronto

More than Good Enough – Exploring Public Secure Bike Parking Solutions

  • Description: Join our speaker, Allison Miller from the City of London, to hear how the City is improving bike parking and how these lessons may apply in your community. Allison will highlight the City’s Bike Parking Implementation Plan, provide examples of secure bike parking, share success stories, and offer tips you can apply in your own community to make your bike-commute destinations better for you and fellow cyclists.

Bike Tourism

  • Description: We’re excited to welcome Ontario By Bike to share inspiration and information on how to discover cycle touring and cycle tourism in Ontario. Learn about what makes both a destination and business bicycle-friendly, what services are needed to become certified and other opportunities as cycle tourism in Ontario continues to grow. With tips for touring by bike, whether you’re looking for family-friendly trail rides, bikepacking adventures, or multi-day paved routes, this is a great place to start planning your summer and fall cycling trips.

Programs and Services

Smart Commute offers customized programming to encourage employees to make the switch from driving alone to more sustainable forms of transportation such as biking, walking, carpooling, and taking transit.

As a Smart Commute partner, you can take advantage of:

  • Dedicated Smart Commute staff who will work with you to bring Smart Commute programs and services to your workplace
  • Annual campaigns to encourage your employees to explore their commuting options
  • Support for new hybrid work models and your return to office planning, including telework, and work from home programs
  • Virtual and in-person events and workshops for your employees
  • The Emergency Ride Home program - Employees at Smart Commute workplaces who commute in a sustainable way and have an unforeseen emergency, can be reimbursed up to $75 for emergency transportation costs to get home quickly

Special Bike Share Toronto Discount

Special Discount: Bike Share Toronto is offering a corporate discount on annual memberships in support of Toronto’s Return to Office campaign. Companies can enroll for no cost as a corporate partner with Bike Share Toronto to unlock a special discount for employees on annual memberships. Smart Commute Clients are eligible for a 25% discount on annual memberships.
